WYMON JARETT BARNES

Wymon J. Barnes, age 85 of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Foxwood Springs Living Center, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Wymon was born on June 18, 1934 in Vinita, Oklahoma. He was the son of Pole Gregory and Mable (Gregory) Barnes. Later in life, adopted by Ross Barnes. After high school, Wymon joined the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He created for himself a career in the Air Force proudly serving his country, retiring as Major.

In the Fall of 1956, Wymon was joined in marriage with his loving wife Sherry, on October 11 ^th in Vinita, Oklahoma. Together they were blessed with three children, Kevin, Steve and Julie. In life, Wymon loved playing music especially on his mandolin and guitar. He had a very apparent passion for working on small engines, in particular, Snapper lawn mowers.

Wymon was preceded in death by his parents, Pole Gregory and Mable Barnes; adopted father, Ross Barnes; siblings, Maxine Geier, Hubert Gregory, Ed Gregory, Wallace Gregory, Walter Gregory, and Ema Jean Collins.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Sherry Barnes; two sons, Kevin Barnes and Steve Barnes (Kristy); daughter Julie McNamara; and four grandchildren, Kayla, Shelby, Mason, and Layne Jensen.
