WINFRED "LUCILLE" ROMIG
Winfred Lucille (Leonard) Romig, 74, of Lee's Summit passed away on May 10, 2017 at home. Lucille was born on May 26, 1942 in Hope, IN. She was the proud daughter of Airy Newell and Burnice Blanche (Millsap) Leonard.
Lucille graduated from McCune, KS high school and got her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Education from Pittsburg State College. Lucille was a 6th grade teacher in the Belton public school system for 31 years.
She married Jerry Romig on July 18, 1965 in Girard, KS. They lived in Belton, MO for nine years before moving to Raymore, MO where they raised their family. Eight years ago, they moved to Lee's Summit, MO, where they are surrounded by a community of friends.
Lucille and Jerry enjoy traveling throughout the country and have visited most states. She was a loving mother and wonderful grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Jerry; children Lucinda Conway (Jason) of Oregon City, OR, and Jeremy Romig (Sheila) of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren James and Charlotte Conway and Finley Romig; sisters Thelma Barr of Independence, MO and Evalee Winburn of Weston, MO; and brothers Amos Leonard of Girard, KS; David Leonard of Oak Grove, MO, and Rufus Leonard of Bloomfield, NM.
She is preceded by her parents, siblings Audery Leonard, Margaret Mae Brownie Hartman, and Martha Jane Hiller.
Lucille was laid to rest by her family in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be sent to Dresden Cemetery, 22375 Buckeye Rd., La Monte, MO 65337.
