WILLIAM HENRY RULE
William "Bill" H. Rule, age 77, of Lohman, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
William was born on December 25, 1941 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He was the son of Henry Hammett Rule and Lois Elaine (Wunderlich) Rule and spent his childhood in Poplar Bluff, with his sister, Dee. He married his high-school sweetheart, Kathryn Jean (Sullivan) Rule, on July 6th 1963. William proudly served his country for four years in the United States Army, receiving the Army Commendation Medal during deployment in Vietnam.
Following discharge from the Army, William took residence in Jefferson City, Missouri where he was blessed with one daughter, Stephanie A. (Rule) Ellis. In 1972 William moved his family to Tucson, Arizona to expand his knowledge of western architecture. He was an accomplished architect and engineer, working on local high profile landmarks, such as Busch Stadium, the St. Louis flood wall and many buildings, churches, schools and prisons in Missouri and Arizona.
In the Spring of 1991 William was joined in marriage to his late wife, Annette Janis (Mitchell Jensen) Rule on April 24th. William and Annette retired to Jefferson City, Missouri in 2007, where he fulfilled a lifetime dream of designing and building his own home.
William enjoyed architecture, music, camping, hiking, cars and home improvements. He loved animals and was especially fond of cats. Some of his happiest moments were those spent with family, sharing stories, laughs, meals and dessert. William was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
William is preceded in death by his loving wife, Annette (Mitchell Jensen) Rule; and parents, Henry and Lois Rule. He is survived by his sister, Dee Hewlett (Melvin); daughter, Stephanie Ellis (Earl); grandchildren, Rebecca Kneipp (Jeremy) and Ashley Ellis; one great grandson, William Kneipp; step-children, Tammy (Matt) Thomas, Paul (Elisabeth) Jensen, Michael (Heather) Jensen and Troy (Mandy) Jensen; step-grandchildren, Abbie Jensen, Andrew Jensen, Austen Loertscher, Brooke Jensen, Chase Loertscher, Dallin Jensen, Danika Jensen, Megan Jensen, Shaylee Loertscher, Tristam Thomas and Zachary Jensen; former wife, Kathryn J. (Sullivan Rule) French, and his beloved cat, Winston.
May your soul rest in peace forever, dear Father, Brother, Grandfather, Husband and Friend.
