WILLIAM ANTHONY OWENS

William "Bill" Anthony Owens, age 69, of Belton, Missouri passed away peacefully at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on July 24, 2024.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Sabina Catholic Church 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64083 with military honors to follow the mass.

Bill was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 13, 1955, the son of Edward Lee Owens and Patricia Marble. Bill was one of eight children from this union. Bill served his country in the United States Navy and later retired after twenty plus years of service. Bill was blessed with three children, Dena, Mary, and Anthony. Bill retiring from the Navy, Bill became an over the road truck driver, traveling all over the country. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. In his off time, he helped anybody in need, feeding people everywhere, wrote poetry, & had a love for taking beautiful photos, he loved playing trivia.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lee Owens; daughter, Mary Owens; and sister, Mildred Owens.

He is survived by his two children, Dena McCarty (James) and Anthony Owens; mother, Patricia Owens; four brothers, Thomas Owens (Rose Ann), Matthew Owens (Tess), George Owens (Jennifer) and Edward Owens and life partner; two sisters, Elizabeth and Rose Owens; and grandchildren Nickolas McCarty (Amber), Denae Castillo (Omar), Kaleb McCarty (Ivylyn), Jamie McCarty, Andrew McCarty, Natalie McCarty; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
