Wanda Lee (Lemmon) Burt
A celebration of life reception will be held in honor of Wanda Burt on June 10, 2015 from 6 to 7:30 pm in the meeting room at Carnegie Village, 103 Bernard Drive, Belton, Missouri 64012. Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Queen City, Missouri on June 20, 2015 at 11 am.
Wanda was the daughter of Murray and Lucile (Frank) Lemmon, born May 29, 1927 in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, MO in the class of 1944. Wanda married Albert (Kayo) Wesley Burt on October 12, 1946 in Kansas City. To this union, five children were born. As a Navy wife, Wanda was on the move with her young family, living on naval air bases in Florida and California. After Kayo died in 1971, Wanda settled in Queen City, MO with the children and remained there until just before her death. Wanda, a child of God, loved her church family and was an active, revered member of the congregation. She spent time as an ombudsman at the Schuyler County Nursing Home, visiting and assisting the residents there. She enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels for several years. Wanda loved to spend her free time reading and was a well-known patron at two local libraries. She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Murray and Lucile Lemmon; her husband, Albert W Burt and her brother, Murray Dean Lemmon. She is survived by: Betty and husband Mark Reed, Barbara and husband Rick Church, Beverly Stanley, Albert and wife Karmen Burt, Doug and wife Deborah Burt; eleven grandchildren, Todd and Nathan Reed, Jennifer Waterfield, Pamela Stanley, Trista Hale, Alison Burt, Chris Dunfee, Scott, Jeremy and Gregory Buckalew and Alyssa Elder; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kaci, Kyle, Kaden, Dylan, Baylee, Kendrick and Mark Reed, Ethan and Lucas Hale, Brooklyn Waterfield, Branson and Grayson Buckalew and Braelyn Elder; sister-in-law, Dolly Lemmon; niece, Debra Konko; great-niece, Brittney; great-nephew Zachary Konko; and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers Wanda asked that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, Queen City, MO 63561 or to Kansas City Hospice.
