WALTER W. RAY, JR.

Walter W. Ray, Jr., age 86, of Lee's Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully at the Select Speciality Hospital of Kansas City on August 3, 2024.

A graveside service will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri on Friday, August 16th at 11:00am with United States Air Force military funeral honors.
Walter was born in Cordele, Georgia on March 29, 1938, the son of Walter W. Ray, Sr. and Julia Alice Poole. Shortly after graduating high school and college, Walter served his country in the United States Air Force serving for eight years.  His fighter squadron was selected to compete in the 1957 William Tell competition while at Tyndall AFB.  Walter excelled in his career as a manager of maintenance operations for the Federal Aviation Association for over 32 years. He was awarded a patent for his design work in electronics for Brunson Instrument Company in Kansas City, MO.  He was the past president for the local chapter of Narfe for many years.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Alice Ray; his loving wife of 57 years Norma Jean Ray; and two stillborn brothers.

He is survived by his three children, Andrea Miller (Steve), Patrick Ray (Terry), and Scott Ray; two grandchildren, Ashley Wisdom (Jon), Sean Ray (Andrea), 2 great grandchildren; Keagan Wisdom and Meadow Wisdom; two step grandchildren; Jeremy Hair (Teresa) and Lacey Christ (Houston); six step great-grandchildren; Addison, Lily, Grayson, Skylynn, Alanna and Alicia.
