VIRGINIA MAY BRACKEN

Virginia May Bracken, age 93, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, at St. Joseph Medical Center, with her loving son, daughter-in-law and friends at her side. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 with visitation at 10:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery at Fort Scott, KS.

Virginia was born on Thursday, July 13th, 1922 in Garber, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Sinclair and Anna (Ward) Johnson. After graduating from Garber high school in 1939, Virginia attended business college and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She faithfully served her country and worked as a wartime secretary for the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C.
She also worked for the Army Air Corps at Scott Air Force Base, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Al Bracken. On April 30th, 1944, Virginia and Al were married, and to this union they were blessed with one son, Mike Bracken.

Virginia valued education and worked as a Library Clerk at Warford Elementary School of Kansas City, Missouri. She later retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Wendall, Ward and J.C. Johnson.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 72 years, Al Bracken, her son, Mike Bracken and his wife, Carla Bracken.
