VIRGIL L. MEDLIN

Virgil L. Medlin, 71, of Peculiar, MO passed away December 28, 2013. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation noon-2pm. Burial will be in Wills Cemetery. Virgil was born March 23, 1942 in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Robert and Wyanna Barns Medlin.

Virgil was a hardworking man who loved to do things for others. He was always willing to jump in to lend a hand to anyone that needed it especially his family and friends. If he wasn't on his tractor, lawn mower or in his garden you'd find him in his shop doing any project to keep him busy. Virgil loved his wood working and coming up with creative gifts for family and friends.

Virgil loved spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren inspiring them with all his knowledge about anything and everything you can think of. Virgil was always the first to give his family words of encouragement, acknowledgment of accomplishments or just to tell you how proud he was of you, which he was best known for by putting it down in a card or on a note.

Virgil was a US Army Veteran. He was very proud of his time working for Boeing with NASA. He took part and was recognized in his help with the launch of Apollo 8, Apollo/Saturn 5, Apollo 11 which was the launch of the man on the moon, Apollo 14 and Apollo 15. After his time with Boeing he worked for General Motors until retirement in 2003. He was very active and proud of his work in the local UAW95 as their committeeman and the chairman of the veterans committee which he was recognized and awarded for all his hard work and dedication.

On January 3rd he would have celebrated 26 years of marriage with the love of his life.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bobby Boyle; great granddaughter, Lilly Passler; brothers, Donald, Dee, Wayne and Larry. He is survived by his wife Emmagene; son, Jeffery Medlin; daughters, Michele Billey (Michael), Gyelene Estes (Kevin) and Rita Miller; sisters, Kathy Smith (Joe), Joyce Parker (Howard) and Linda Clear (Charlie Burden); 4 grandchildren, Corrie, Ty, Michael and Michael Jr.; 7 great grandchildren, Bobbi, Colt, Emma, Amber, Fallyn, Harlee and Ryland; nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.

The family would like to thank all of Virgil's doctors, caregivers, and friends over the last few months that have given them so much love and support. Memorials may be made to thewoundedwarriorproject.org or Veterans Charity of your choice.
