VERNON EVERETT WHITSON

Vernon Everett Whitson, age 88, of Overland Park, KS passed away November 24,
2015. Visitation will be held December 4, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 PM, at the Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO. Graveside services will be held December 5, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Elk City, KS. Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, he served his country in WWII and Korea, he retired from Union Wire Rope after 27 years of service there. Vernon excelled at every undertaking; he was a 33rd Degree Mason in the Kansas City Scottish Rite. Dedicated to his family... He was by his wife's side till she passed April 17, 2013. My fondest memory was in the hospital at five years old, and awoke to a pitch black room. Thinking I was alone I called out to my dad... from the corner of the room I heard, "Go back to sleep Donald, I'm right here!" Dad, you will always be that voice coming out of the dark to assure me of your love. I can only try to be half the man you were...I love you!
