VEDA DELORIS SMITH-MATTISON
Veda Deloris Smith-Mattison, age 94, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Monday, December 13, 2021.
A visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Pentecostal Church of God, 3rd and Marr St. Mountain View, Missouri 65548. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the church with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Veda was born on July 21, 1927 in Mountain View, Missouri to Lee Andrew Smith and Gertrude Julia (Strickler) Smith. In the summer of 1946, Veda was united in marriage to Carl Mattison, and to this union was blessed with three children, Ronald, Deloris, and Linda. In life, Veda was a hard worker, whether it was factory work or the many years she worked as a cook at the Mountain View School District. She always maintained a spotless home, even the garage. As the grandkids would say, "you could eat off the garage floor." Veda loved to garden, cook, spend time on the farm, and attended the Full Gospel Church Campground for many years.
Veda was preceded in death by her loving husband of over fifty-four years, Carl; daughter, Deloris Catherine Mattison; parents, Lee and Gertrude Smith; five sisters, Reva Humphrey, Eva Coulter-Harris, Wilma Smith, Juanita Davis, and infant sister at birth; and four brothers, Raymond, Adrain, Eldred, and Ralph Smith.
She leaves behind her two children, Ronald Mattison (Brenda) of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Linda Cronk (Mike) of Harrisonville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Teena Winslow (Barry), Rebecca Gingerich (Danny), Sherri Pruett, Carla McArthur (James), and Daryl Cronk (Kristyn); fourteen great grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley, Emma, Owen, Preston, Paige, Porche`, Parker, Emilee, Elliette, Duncan, Bailee, Blake, and Brett; as well as seven great-great grandchildren, Brady, Rhett, Emmett, Amari, Camden, Kendall, and Carmen.
