TWILA L. SUTHERLAND

Twila L. (Kruse) Sutherland was born Fredrick, Kansas on November 22, 1922 and went to be with the Lord on September 19, 2015.

Twila and Douglas Sutherland were married on May 23, 1946, and had two daughters, Ann and Carole. She is survived by her loving husband Douglas of 69 years; two daughters, Ann Sisson and husband Otis of Blue Springs, MO and Carole Bailey and fiancé, Rob Sutherland of Flippin, AR; brother, Calvin D. Kruse of Scott City, KS; 3 grandchildren, Caleb Sisson, Elizabeth Dennis (Ron) and Nicholas Bailey (Monica); and 3 great-grandchildren, Corbin, Alexis and Hunter.

Twila graduated from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas, in 1944 and enjoyed teaching business education and did substitute teaching while their daughters were growing up. Twila enjoyed being the wife of a YMCA Director for 25 years and then enjoyed a new challenging avocation as her husband changed into ministry as an ordained United Methodist pastor in 1979.

Since retirement in 1987, Doug and Twila moved to Foxwood Springs Living Center Retirement Village, in Raymore, MO and enjoyed retired life along with varied interim pastoring assignments and home & hospital visitations.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday, September 25, 2015 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1111 Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the church. Burial will follow at the Raymore Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Paul's UMC or Fellowship of John (at the Foxwood Springs Retirement Community) or Crossroad Hospice 14310 E 42nd St. South Unit 600, Marketplace Shopping Center Independence, MO 64055.
