TRAVIS RYAN LONG
Travis Ryan Long, 30, of Raymore, Missouri came into this world on July 11, 1982 and entered the Kingdom of Heaven on February 22, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1111 W. Foxwood Drive (58 Highway) in Raymore, MO with Visitation from 5-7 PM. Memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troup 32, c/o 305 Huntsman Blvd., Raymore, MO 64083.Travis was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elks Club and the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School in 2000 and Central Missouri State University in 2007 with a degree in Broadcast Communication. His talents were many, including professional photography and videography, sales and customer service, computer expertise, and fledgling entrepreneur. He volunteered his time with the Elks for fundraisers and participated in supporting local politicians in past and recent elections. He loved music, sang in choir and school musicals, and always sang along to his favorite songs while cruising into another adventure. Many of his interests centered around the outdoors such as camping, hiking, boating, going to the beach and he truly appreciated nature. One favorite pastime was to admire the constellations and stars in the heavens from our country back porch where city lights couldn't interfere with the beauty. We spent many hours with him in his pursuit of this pleasure.
Travis never knew a stranger and touched everyone he met with his endearing smile and personality. He had a kind word for everyone and always tried to walk in their shoes and seek to understand them. He had a heart of gold and endless compassion for others including the homeless and less fortunate in all walks of life. His giving spirit will live on in others who he is helping by being an organ donor in a typically unselfish act. His free spirit is soaring now and he will forever be our angel. We know the Lord has welcomed him with open arms and he will enjoy meeting the family he never knew as well as being reunited with the "forever young" friends he had lost.
Travis is survived by his parents, Dewayne and Cheryl; brother, Brandon; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Kingsbury, Jr.; paternal grandfather, Mr. Wayne Long Sr. and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be sorely missed by all, including his beloved dog Mabel and cat Annie. Thank you, Travis, for making us part of your extraordinary life!
