THOMAS EDWARD MATAKAS JR.

Thomas Edward Matakas Jr., age 54, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at Saint Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

No services are scheduled.

Tom was born in Bedford Heights, Ohio on August 12th, 1967 to Thomas E. Matakas Sr., and Carol (Young) Matakas. Tom worked many years as a framer in the construction industry. In the summer of 2000 he was joined in marriage with his wife, Melisa Sieben-Matakas on July 29th in Independence, Missouri. Their union was blessed with two children, Thomas and Shelby. In life, Tom had a very close group of friends that he could rely on, in hard times and in good. He was also always open to a discussion on politics. He participated in many political groups online voicing his opinion very strongly. Everyone knew his love for college football, especially the Alabama Crimson Tide team "roll tide". He was also an avid viewer of the show NCIS, and a serious binge watcher of Star Wars.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Edward Matakas Sr.; brother, Madison Matakas; and son, Thomas Matakas.

He leaves behind his loving wife of twenty one years, Melisa Sieben-Matakas; daughter, Shelby Matakas; mother, Carol Matakas; brother, Steve Matakas (Melinda); and sister, Rachel Matakas (Stephanie McIntyre); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
