THEO SUWITO LIEM
Theo Suwito Liem, age 70, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on March 9, 2018, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, MO. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15, at St. Sabina Catholic Church, Belton, Missouri. Burial will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.
Theo was born on February 5, 1948, in Jakarta, Indonesia. He was the son of Suharto Prawiro and Lucia Juniati Kwee.
On December 9, 1972, Theo was united in marriage with Ursula Jani Liem. Together they were blessed with two children, Felix and Sophia.
Theo worked as a finance accountant for PT Jamu Ait Mancur during his time in Indonesia.
For ten years, Theo was a member of the St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri.
Known by everyone as a lighthearted and playful spirit, Theo enjoyed joking and laughing and bringing light to every situation in life. He was a fun loving husband, father, and he especially loved spending time playing with his grandchildren.
Theo was a fierce tennis player, and he competed in a men's tennis league during his younger years in Indonesia. He also enjoyed both the tranquility, patient skill, and the rush of fishing.
At his home in Raymore, the landscape exhibited an immaculate garden, filled with various exotic flowers and fresh vegetables that he would share with friends and family. Theo was adamant about hand-pulling every single weed in sight, and also teaching his grandchildren his love of gardening.
Theo was very serious about his food! He was said to be " half of the Twisted Asian food truck team". Theo proudly worked alongside his children, Felix, Sophia, and favorite son-in-law, Matt. The Twisted Asian food truck team served up many unique and delicious eats at Sporting Stadiums, Motor-cross competitions, First Friday's in Kansas City, and food festivals far and wide.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Theo was preceded in death by his parents, Suharto Prawiro and Lucia Juniati Kwee; and his son, Felix Irawan Suwito (September 1, 2017).
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Ursula Jani Liem; his daughter, Sophia Chatfield and her husband, Matt Chatfield; Theo's siblings, Ridwan Suwito (Hilda), Lisa Dolan (Tom), and Sri Fitzgerald (David); and his beloved triplett granddaughters-Tiffany, Lorren, and Isabel.
