THELMA EDNA (ANDREW) HOWARD
Thelma Edna (Andrew) Howard died peacefully early Friday morning, May 20, 2011, at Foxwood Springs Care Center, Raymore, MO with family at her side. Thelma was born July 22, 1913 in Keifer, OK, the sixth of seven children, to John William and Frances (Glick) Andrew. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Raymore, MO Christian Church with visitation 1-2 p.m. Graveside service is at South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa, OK, 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 25. Thelma married Calep Howard November 4, 1930 in Okmulgee, OK. They enjoyed more than 74 years together before he died January 5, 2006. Calep began work with Phillips Petroleum Company at 18 years of age and continued 45 years. Thelma moved up and down the pipeline with him as he advanced with the company. They are parents of three children. Thelma was a great mother, always there when we came home after school, and completely dedicated to her family. Thelma loved music and played piano, organ, violin and drums. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry, sewing and needlework. She sewed wedding gowns for her daughter and two of her granddaughters. The activity she most enjoyed recalling was as a star basketball player on her high school team at rural Liberty High School in Oklahoma. Most of all she loved Calep and was lost when he died in 2006. Thelma and Calep were members of Raymore Christian Church, and always active in Christian Churches where they lived, holding many positions and raising their children in the Christian faith. They were members of the Eastern Star. Thelma is survived by one sister, Nedra Schomp of Columbia, South Carolina, three children, Jerry Howard and wife Glenda, Norma Money, husband Russell, and Gracia Howard; Nine grandchildren: Brian Drake, Glenna Drake, Ronald Drake, Cala Istas, Andrew Money, Daniel Money, Jonathan Money, Edwina Smith and Calep Howard, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
