Obituary

STEVEN HOWARD MEEHAN

Steven Howard Meehan, age 69, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Steve was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Cullen Funeral Home, Inc., 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the fall.

Steve was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on January 5, 1957, the son of Francis James Meehan and Susan Frances Mitchell Meehan. After graduating from high school and college with his associate’s degree, Steve made a career as an elevator mechanic with the IUEC Local 12 and later retired with 38½ years of service. On November 20, 1993, Steve married Vanda Kay Smart. Together they had two children, Maddy and Denton, who joined his children, Bret and Megan. Steve was a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers fan. But most of all, he was the biggest fan of his kids, rarely missing a game or a show, always cheering loudly and celebrating them every step of the way. He also was an animal lover, sharing his home with many cats and dogs over the years.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rick Meehan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Vanda Meehan; his four children, Bret Meehan (Ashley), Megan Meehan, Maddy Meehan, and Denton Meehan; brother, Pat Meehan (Penny); three grandchildren, Kerrigan Meehan, Addison Lett (Brock), and Laila Meehan; two great-grandchildren, Kalena and Corbin; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved cats, Smorz and Reeses.
