IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen Eugene
Berry
July 13, 1954 – July 20, 2020
STEPHEN EUGENE BERRY
Stephen Eugene Berry, age 66, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Dean and Ann Ruth Berry; brother, Mike Berry.
He leaves behind his loving wife Gwen Berry; two daughters, Renee Roe and Nicole Stratton (Jefferson); brother Eddy Berry; five grandchildren, Joseph Roe (Natalie), Gage Roe, Brooklyn Roe, Zoie Stratton, and Ava Stratton; and two great grandchildren, Blaine and Presley Roe.
Steve spent the majority of his professional life as a home builder learning the trade from his Dad. At the age of 20 he started his own Rough In Crew and advanced quickly thereafter to building custom homes. Steve always built with quality in mind. There were no shortcuts. He trained himself in the construction of the unique Concrete Home and was requested on multiple occasions to supervise the pour of others working in the industry.
In his younger years Steve loved softball. His team "Steve Berry Construction" played hard and fast for many years. He scuba dived, snow skied but his greatest sporting delight was golf.
Steve was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight for three years at Coronation of Our Lady Parish. He always led our Family Rosary followed by the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. He loved the Catholic Faith and though he was a convert he lived the faith with devotion.
In the course of one's life it may come to pass that the depth of one's goodness is not fully known. Steve Berry was among the best of men. My mother, Marianne Combs, referred to him as the man of "quiet strength". I realize it is easy or tempting to list a string of attributes when writing of one we love and will miss beyond words. So, I will leave that to those who knew him well and simply state that his goodness ran deep. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather never failing to be there when needed. He was the Constant, the Rock. We love you so much. Our hearts hurt but we must submit our longing hearts in trust to the mercy of God and His timing. Remember us to the Eternal Father until He calls us to join you. We love you.
