SHIRLEY SUE FISCHER

Shirley Sue Fischer, age 64, passed away April 11, 2016. Memorial service begins at 6 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at Cullen Funeral Home. Inurnment begins at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery of Higginsville, Missouri.

Shirley was born September 6, 1951, in Omaha, NE, to James Clark Collett and Darlene Marie (Butcher) Collett.

Shirley graduated in 1969 from Bellevue Sr. High School, in Bellevue, NE.
She married Charles J. Fischer on May 4, 1974, and was happily married for 20 years. They lived in Germany from 1976-1979. Upon their return to the U.S., they settled in Boise, ID.

Shirley served in the U.S. Civil Service for 20 years as a payroll clerk for the Veteran's Hospital. Charles died on January 15, 1995, and Shirley moved to Kansas City in 2005. Shirley was devoted to and deeply loved her entire family. She fought a long battle with many complicated medical challenges. Through it all, she remained strong, optimistic and thoughtful.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Fischer; her father, James C. Collett; and two brothers, John A. Collett, Kenneth L. Collett and his wife, Nancy J. Collett.

Shirley is survived by her mother, Darlene M. Collett of Harrisonville, MO; her sisters, Bonnie M. (Jasper) Rexroad of Harrisonville, MO, and Patty A. Collett of Houston, TX, and Mary J. (Michael) Roselli of Blue Springs, MO, and her brother, Carl L. (Linda) Collett of Wentzville, MO; and sister-in-law, Ruby D. Collett of West Palm Beach, Florida.
