SHIRLEY RULE COX
Shirley Rule Cox, age 92, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2020.
At this time there are no services scheduled. A family burial will be held on a later date. Her ashes will be laid to rest at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
Shirley was born in Sweetwater, Texas on December 26, 1927. She was the daughter of Monroe Rule and Mayme (Zeigner) Rule. Throughout her life she was a dedicated wife and mother to her three children. She served as Business Manager for USD 254 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas and spent many years as a Girl Scout leader. After retirement, she traveled the country doing genealogy research, obtaining both Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the Revolution (SAR) qualifications for the Cox and Rule families. With this experience, she continued to assist the Independence Pioneers Chapter of DAR in qualifying others for the DAR certification.
Shirley was a resident at Foxwood Springs for 36 years. She was a gifted person whose creative touch was seen in everything she did. She was always involved in her neighborhood & fundraising activities including heading up committees and making oodles of fudge for their annual Fall Festival. She enjoyed making items for the Gift Shop including her unique "scrubbies". She also loved cooking, reading, flowers, birds, playing Bridge and spending time at the resident's puzzle table.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Clarence Brown Cox, Jr. (CB); parents, Monroe and Mayme Rule; and sister Rosemary Toler.
She is survived by her three children, Rebecca J. McKaig (William), Clarence Brown Cox III (Dianne) and Sarah C. Stuewe (Scott); four grandchildren, Amy Jo Williams (Mike), Christine Butler (Bryan), Stephanie Gross (Kurt), Sean Stuewe (Ashley); eleven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Fellowship of John, c/o Foxwood Springs Residents Council, 1500 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, Missouri 64083
