IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sherry Kay
Fielding
March 2, 1949 – December 24, 2025
Sherry Kay Fielding (76) of Raymore, Missouri, peacefully passed away on December 24, 2025, from complications commonly associated with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on March 2, 1949, in Jackson, TN.
Sherry married beloved Kenneth Fielding on November 3, 1976. Ken (63) preceded her in death in 2014 after 38 loving years of marriage. Sherry is survived by her son, Michael McCracken (56), her daughter Christonya Woodbury (50), and her grandson, Kobi McCracken (24). Sherry was the oldest of her siblings. She is preceded in death by her sister Teresa Meyer, brother Eddie Howell, and is survived by her brother Wayne Howell.
Sherry and Ken lived in several states throughout their marriage together. However, her strongest emotional ties were to her home states of Tennessee and California. Sherry and Ted McCracken, Michael's biological father, met in Tennessee and were married for 6 years in the 1960's. She and Ken later met in Tennessee and were married in the 1970's. Sherry and Ken then moved to San Diego, California where they lovingly co-parented Michael and Christonya.
Sherry is remembered by her children as being a loving, sweet, fun, and supportive mom. She never missed any of their games, matches, or performances. Her house was always spotless, and she could stretch a dollar to create deliciously comforting meals. Her roles as a wife and mother were her proudest and most revered responsibilities. To her children she was a wonderful teacher, preacher, dance instructor, psychologist, mentor, and life coach.
In addition to being a devoted family person, she also worked several part-time jobs in retail throughout her life. For a couple NFL and MLB seasons, mom worked concessions at the Jack Murphy Stadium, in San Diego, and bragged about getting to share elevators with famous football and baseball players. After successfully completing Cosmetology Trade School in 1987, she ultimately retired as a hairstylist in 2011.
Sherry had many personal interests and hobbies that she loved to share with others. She adored the Lord and rejoiced in the Lord by singing, dancing, and reading scriptures aloud. She was not one to fear death because she knew that God would take her home to Heaven where she could join her predeceased loved ones and watch over her surviving friends and family. Sherry also loved to go fishing and would drop all her other hobbies and priorities in a moment's notice to go fishing with her family. Sherry similarly couldn't pass up a Padres (and later, KC Royals) ballgame either – mostly for the hot dogs and nachos!! Sherry's absolute favorite time of the year was Christmas. She and Ken went to great lengths, creating an atmosphere of magic and wonder for their children every year, including starting special traditions on Christmas Eve that her children still observe today.
Michael and Christonya have made the personal decision to have a private family celebration of Sherry's life; we will share stories, pictures, music, and the exquisite legacy of our mom who helped us feel adored, worthwhile, and capable of doing and being anything, we desired. For her friends, her children are also more than happy to share memories of mom over a phone call, meal, or coffee. We also ask that in lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider donating to an Alzheimer's support or medical research organization, or volunteering a few hours of your time at a senior care center.
Love, Peace and Wellness to You All and Rest in Heavenly Peace Momma!
