SHERMAN CALVIN CASADY
Sherman Calvin Casady, 90, of Raymore, Missouri (formerly of Independence and Springfield) passed away peacefully on August 4, 2017, surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. "Hoppy" as he was known by many, was born December 22, 1926, in Milan, Missouri, to Wesley and Pearl (Noland) Casady.
Hoppy served in the U.S. Army as military police where he spent most of his time in Italy. He worked for Armco Steel as an electrician for 35 years before retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golf, bowling, cards, pool, horseshoes, gardening, and traveling. Later in life he took up square dancing and enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas.
Hoppy was preceded in death by his parents Wes and Pearl Casady, first wife and mother of his daughters, Eunice Wright Casady, sister, Barbara Pearson and stepson Mike Ferrell.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Florence Casady, brother, Herman Casady, Chillicothe, Missouri, sister Darlene Campbell, Whitesboro, Texas, daughters Barbara (Jerry) Myers, Stockton, Missouri, Jane (Dan) Stepp, Lee's Summit, Missouri, stepson Jack (Juna) Ferrell, Davenport, Iowa, and grandchildren Megan Villarreal (Alex), Rochelle McBride (Mark), Becky Nash (Nick) and Alex Myers. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren Carolyn (Chris) Rocco, Morgan, Connor and Alex Stepp, Tracy (Greg) Mendoza, Rhonda (Tim) Lang, Michael Ferrell and Jeremy (Jamie) Ferrell, and a host of great and great great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Hoppy will be cremated according to his wishes. Memorial service is scheduled for Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes Hall, Foxwood Springs, Raymore, Missouri. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
