SANTIAGO LOPEZ, SR.

Santiago Lopez, Sr., age 65, of Belton, Missouri passed away April 1, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice House, surrounded by the love of his family. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, Belton, Missouri. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at the church. Burial will take place at the Belton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.

Santiago was born April 17, 1951 in Durango, Mexico. He was the son of Pedro and Maria (Villanueva) Lopez. On April 16, 1975 Santiago was united in marriage with Maria Luna and together they were blessed with five children, Santiago, Dolores, Erica, Carmen, and Santiago, Jr.

Santiago was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church.
For 20 years, he was employed at the Belton Body Shop and held the management position. Santiago also owned and operated Las Gorditas restaurant in Belton for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Lopez and one son, Santiago Lopez.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Maria E. Lopez; children, Dolores Lopez, Erica Lopez (Martin Mera), Carmen Hinojos (Ismael), Santiago Lopez, Jr. (Claudia), and Jessica Lopez; his mother, Maria (Villanueva) Lopez; brothers, Ricardo Lopez (Maria), Pedro Lopez, Jr. (Monica), and Rutilo Lopez (Martha); sisters, Hilaria Rios (Santos), Francisca Reyes (Martin), Catalina Sanchez (Guerrero), and Virginia Lopez; 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
