SALVADOR ALVAREZ
After a lengthy illness, Sal went home to his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2024 He was born September 21, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Alvarez; father and mother, Raymond Alvarez and Savina Mejia; brother, John Alvarez; and mother and father in law, Velora and Edgar Hansen.
He is survived by his wife, Rowena Alvarez; daughter, Kristine Alvarez Northern; son, Steve Alvarez; grandchildren, Chelsy Young (Lenard), Quinn Northern (Karissa), Alyssa Arth (Alex), Alec Northern, and Veda Alvarez; three great grandchildren, Bentyn Young, Callum Northern, and Ayla Arth; two brothers, Frank Alvarez and Lenard Mejia; three sisters, Victoria Estrada, Caroline Mejia, and Francis Lechuga; and many nieces and nephews. He also loved his four kitties. He will be dearly missed by his family.
Sal started weightlifting at the age of 15 due to high blood pressure. He continued this all his life. He loved boxing, karate, running, and many other sports. He excelled at everything he did while playing sports.
He was a Pontiac man and loved to race cars at the old drag strip. Especially his GTO and Trans Am.
After retiring he enjoyed volunteering at a rehab facility. He was also involved in a prison ministry. He was always willing to help those in need.
