RUTH L. BOGART
Ruth L. Bogart, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 10, 2024, after a four-year battle with heart failure.
Ruth was born on February 12, 1946, in Lawrence, Kansas, to parents Ralph and Roberta Jacobs. She was raised in Olathe, Kansas, and always considered herself an "Olathe girl." She attended Olathe High School, where she was a cheerleader and Homecoming queen, and graduated in 1964. Graduating from Emporia State Teachers College in 1968, she began her career of teaching writing and literature for five years at Blue Valley High School, before moving on to teach at Raymore-Peculiar High School from 1980-2005, eventually becoming the head of the English Department there. Ruth was not done imparting her love of reading and writing, however; she embarked on a second teaching career at Longview Community College where she became Professor Bogart for eight years.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Loren Bogart.
She is survived by her brother, John Jacobs; sister, Mary Freeman (Doug); her children Suzie Eads (Chris), Amy Burton (John), and Jay (Ashley); and her grandchildren Isabelle, Olivia, Andrew, Elizabeth, Annabelle, Amelia, Rachel, Jacob, Allie, Carson, Quentin, Zach, Leah, Anna, and Tommy.
A funeral service celebrating a life well-lived will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Covenant Chapel 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral will begin at 10:00 a.m.
