ROSETTA KAY WORNELL
Rosetta Kay Wornell, passed away on June 24, 2016 at the KC Hospice House in Kansas City, MO surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.
Kay is survived by her husband, Bill Wornell of Archie, MO; her three children, Kelli Jones and her husband Jim Jones of Peculiar, MO; Kim Findley and her husband Rod of Pleasant Hill, MO; JD Shrewsbury and his wife Leslie of Archie, MO. She had two step-children; Billy Wornell and his wife Cindy of Raymore, MO; Gretchen Emry and her husband Jimmy of Peculiar, MO. Kay had nine grandchildren, Kenzi Jones, Kayla Findley, Dillan Findley, Conner Shrewsbury, Kennah Shrewsbury, Bailey Emry, Mason Emry, Tyler Wornell, and Kaitlyn Wornell.
Kay was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Shrewsbury and her parents Mary Rimmer Fenton and Ole Fenton of Nevada, MO and both her sisters; Peggy Cashman and Betty Coale.
Kay was born on May 9, 1941 in Nevada, MO to Mary and Ole Fenton. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1959. She married Jim Shrewsbury on December 18, 1961 and moved to the Kansas City area. They lived in the KC area until moving their family to Raymore, MO in 1978 where they made many new friend and neighbors on Woodson Drive. Kay and Jim owned and operated a concrete flatwork company (J&K Construction/JHS Construction) until Jim's death in 1989. Kay and Bill Wornell married on April 24, 1991 and most recently lived in Archie, MO.
Kay will be remembered as the most kind hearted mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend you will ever meet. She loved her family and never put a hobby or other interest of her own before their needs. She volunteered in the school system to be close to her kids. Kay worked as volunteer at Belton Research Hospital in the emergency room for 15 years. She enjoyed her volunteer work, bowling in her younger years, cross stitching, word games, and visiting with her family.
Due to Kay's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Service arrangements are as follows:
Saturday, June 25: 4-6 pm visitation at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, MO for family and friends of Kay's. Graveside will be in Raymore Cemetery for family earlier on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to the KC Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145 in Kay's name.
