ROSEMARY JENNINGS
Rosemary Addington Jennings, 96, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Menorah Medical Center. She was born November 4, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri.
At the age of 2, Rosemary and her parents moved to Worthington, Missouri to live with her grandparents, and her childhood years were spent on their farm. Rosemary attended a one room school and starting in the third grade, was excited to ride her horse, Betty, the 4 miles to and from their farm. Besides being a good student, Rosemary enjoyed sports. In the 8th grade, she received a blue ribbon in Putnam County for being the best first base player in the county. Being a sports star was not a trait she would pass on to either of her children, but she developed a devout love for the KU Jayhawks later in life.
Moving to Kansas City during her high school years, Rosemary attended Central High School, Southeast High School and Raytown High School, where she graduated in 1947. After graduation, Rosemary attended Templeton's Beauty School in downtown Kansas City. Excelling there, she worked at Harzfeld's for some years as a manicurist and hair stylist. In January 1948, while attending a Sunday evening youth event at church, she met a tall, very good-looking young man, fresh out of the Navy, named Arnold Jennings. That evening started a forever relationship that resulted in 63 years of marriage.
Family was a lifetime priority for Rosemary. Whether as a room mother in school, den mother in Scouts or transporting her children to activities, Rosemary was very involved with family. She worked in the Raytown School District for over 28 years. Rosemary and Arnold were avid golfers, and traveled extensively with friends, taking cruises, exploring Europe and enjoying mountain vacations.
Rosemary was also a woman that exemplified her faith in Christ. She and Arnold were members of Raytown Christian Church for over 50 years. Upon moving to Foxwood Springs in Raymore, Missouri in their retirement years, they joined the Raymore Christian Church where Rosemary was a member until her passing.
Rosemary is celebrated and survived by her daughter Sharon Holt; son Stephen Jennings (Gail); grandsons Kyle Holt, Brandon Jennings, Bryce Holt (Amanda) and Chris Jennings (Megan) and 11 great grandchildren : Noah (19), Zinesh (17), Cameron (16), Jonah (16), Owen (13), Blake (12), Beau (11), Frida (8), Austin (8), Conrad (6), Roxanne (4).
