Rosamond was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 22, 1931 to Henry S. Bell and Iva Jewell (Craghead) Bell. After graduating high school she worked as a "Girl Friday" performing various office duties and then enrolled in nursing school but did not finish because she was blessed with three children, Richard, Sharon and Gregg.
Later in life she worked as a PBX operator for 16 years at Overland Park Regional Medical Center where she was absolutely adored by her coworkers. Rosamond was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore where she felt at home.
Miss Rosie enjoyed performing in plays at Ursuline Academy (Paola, KS). She also was passionate about music, dancing, western movies, and reading (she read every novel written by Danielle Steele.) Over the years she greatly enjoyed camping in the Ozarks, fishing, swimming, and boating with her family and friends.
Rosamond was preceded in death by her parents, Henry S. and Iva Jewell Bell; nephew Samuel Stone; son in law Ric D. Decker; sister Shirley Mae Stone; brother in law Robert Grimshaw; and grandson James Banfield.
She is survived by her three loving children, Richard Allen Banfield (Jamea), Sharon Kay Decker, and Gregg Douglas Banfield (Debbie); sister Barbara Sue Grimshaw; niece Shirlee Rusk; seven grandchildren, Morgan, Chelesa, Rickie Lee, Lindsay, Gregg Jr., Todd, and Eric; great grandchildren and great niece Olivia.
Rosamond wanted to give thanks to her special friends throughout her years; Jo Caldwell, Judy Kurzweil and Peggy Beach. She would also like to give thanks to all her friends at Walnut Estates in Raymore, MO. She was grateful for their compassion and kindness towards her with their gifts of food, acts of kindness and companionship. And lastly, Miss Rosie felt blessed to have ALL of her angels at DCI Clinic...especially Donna who had been with her from the beginning.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Ave. #204, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
