RONALD "GENE" WILLIAMS

Ronald "Gene" Williams, 79, of Belton, Missouri passed away February 5, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation 9:30-10:30 AM. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100 Kansas City, MO 64114 or Church of Christ 6000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133.
Ronald was born July 15, 1934 to Willie and Hazel Williams in Sparks, Oklahoma (near Enid). The family moved to California, where Gene spent the majority of his boyhood years in Napa Valley. They moved to Macon County in Missouri when Gene was around twelve years old. The family lived on a farm where he developed a love for farming. Gene married Lois Elam on August 15, 1954. They have two daughters, Anita and Karen. They lived in Macon where he worked for Macon Municipal Utilities, until 1965. At that point, Gene accepted a job with Missouri Public Service as an electrical lineman, so they moved to Belton, Missouri. Gene continued working for MoPub until his retirement in 1995. He enjoyed his retirement years—farming part time at his farm in Macon County, North of Callao, MO, and gardening at his home in Belton. Other activities he enjoyed included helping rehab a number of houses, collecting miniature farm implements and antique tools, and assisting his kids with various electrical projects.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Williams and granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Nicholson. He is survived by his loving wife Lois of 59 years; daughters, Anita Sikes and husband Rick of Belton, MO and Karen Nicholson and husband Doran of Lee's Summit, MO; brother, Lewis Williams (Frances); sisters, Vesta Brown and Mary Fiedler; six grandchildren, Sarah Malcom (Jason), Mandy Thomas (Paul), Samantha Miller (Logan), Greg Sikes, Matthew Nicholson (Kelli) and Anna Nicholson; seven great grandchildren, Charlie, Cole, Elijah, Luke, Noah, Elliot and Kinley; and many nieces and nephews.
Above all, Gene will be remembered for the love he gave and received. He loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all the numerous members of his family. He was always proud of their accomplishments, loved hearing about everything in their lives, and seeing their latest pictures and videos. He was always concerned for his loved ones' safety, even to the very last of his days when there was the threat of snow and ice on the roads--he wanted to know that everyone was safe. Gene provided countless opportunities for fun times, and memories. He loved family vacations, family get-togethers, and weekends together at the farm. He lived a life filled with love and will be greatly missed by many.
