RONALD DEAN SIMS

Ronald Dean Sims, age 83, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m.

Ronald was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 23, 1942 to James P. Sims and Anna Ruth (Roland) Sims. He graduated from Van Horn High School and entered the workforce creating a successful thirty year career with General Motors. Ronald was an engine builder, both professionally in his career but also in his personal life. Ronald and his father Jim, began racing from the mid-60s to the mid-70s and later his son Victor carried on the tradition from the mid-80s through the mid-90s. Following that, Ronald and his son Victor would spend the next 15 years racing dirt late models at local tracks. Ronald attended many sporting events of both his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents James and Anna Sims.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Sims; son, Victor Sims (Vicky); daughter, Veronica Sims; stepdaughter, Patty Maurer; two grandchildren, Lindsay Mustain (Joshua) and Victor J. Sims (Chance); two step-grandchildren, Blake Maurer and Charlie Maurer (Melissa); and three great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Jameson, and Jace Mustain.
