Obituary

RONALD GEORGE BLUE

Ronald George Blue, 86, passed away on Friday, Sept 13, 2024,  at Kansas City Hospice Place in Kansas City,  Missouri.   Ron was born on April 27, 1938, in Webster City Iowa, to Gurney  A  Blue and Marcelean  Dersheid Blue.  Ron graduated High School in Webster City Iowa in 1956. Ron excelled in Football, Basketball and Track. He was the leading rusher his Senior Year in the State of Iowa and State Champions in basketball. Ron also was a semi-professional Flat Track racer and was sponsored by Triumph. His football career was cut short at Iowa State due to a knee injury. He graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. He began his Engineering career working for the Federal Government at the General Services Administration. In 1966, he demonstrated true love by marrying Karen Carlisle during the NCAA Final Four Basketball Games. Ron then accepted a position at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. He lived there for 5 years and his first child Mark, was born there. Ron then moved to Kansas City to work at the Federal Building in Downtown Kansas City for Health, Education and Welfare. In 1970 he built his first home, mostly by himself in Lenexa. He had his second child, Angela, in 1972. Ron retired from the Federal Government in 1999 and built a cabin in the mountains of Central Colorado in the town of Pitkin. He loved to spend his summers in the high mountains relaxing on the porch of the Silver Plume. Ron once mentioned that his proudest moments in his life was to have his son graduate from Dental School at UMKC and when his daughter graduated from Kansas State with a double degree in Architectural Engineering and Structural Engineering.  Ron is survived by his wife Karen, who he was married to for 58 years, his son Mark and wife Ryan, his daughter Angela, and grandchildren Stephen, Jena and Riley, sister Bonnie and husband Doug, in addition numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on November 1, 2024 followed by a celebration of life at 11:00a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home at 612 Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO 64083.  An additional celebration of life will be held in Pitkin Colorado in the summer of 2025.
