Robert Adair
Kenagy

ROBERT ADAIR KENAGY
Robert Adair Kenagy, age 82, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at home.
"Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you."
--Psalm 143:8-11
Robert, lovingly known as Bob, enjoyed many interests and hobbies, such as hunting, fishing, and boating; and no, we're not exaggerating like most fish stories, when we say his love for John Deere and Ford trucks bordered on obsession. True, his favorite color is blue, but the mixture of green and yellow colors reflected his soft hearted, loyal trustworthiness and gave him, through farming, the great joy of creation.
Bob, however, also had a true passion for the fiery, color red; and more specifically, red Ford trucks. His love for red trucks may have begun when both he and his brother, Bill, were Firefighters at the Hickman Mills firehouse where their dad, William, was the Fire Chief. They say not all heroes wear capes and that's true as they instead wore fire helmets, and now, wings.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."—Deuteronomy 31:6
He took great pride in everything he did--washing, waxing, changing the oil, etc.--enjoying all the mundane tasks the rest of us find exasperating; but Bob? He loved it! This love, care, and dedication extended to all parts of his life—family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and most certainly, his faith and belief he would be reunited with everyone in Heaven.
"But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself."—Psalm 49:15
God, undoubtedly, gave Bob red wings quite possibly from an old Ford Falcon to continue his mission in Heaven. He gave him wings so his dreams would continue to fly. He gave him wings so he could continue to protect all of us from the fires we cannot see. He gave him wings so he would have everything he needed to continue rescuing us. And lastly, he gave him wings to hug and wrap around us—a true safe haven, strong, and all encompassing—when we need comfort the most.
Dearest Bob, your journey on earth may have ended, but you are here, within us, around us, part of the very fabric of our lives; and so, you are not truly gone, but instead, have achieved immortality. We will find solace in knowing that your light shines on within us, illuminating our path, and guiding us forward. We love you, Bob, and we'll see you later.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Pearl Kenagy; daughter, Elizabeth Lea Kenagy; brother, William (Bill) Kenagy, Sr.; and parents, William and Willia Dean Kenagy.
