ROBERT B. MORRIS

Robert B. Morris passed away on February 9, 2013 of natural causes at the age of 91. Robert was born September 7, 1921 in Winsboro, Texas where he was raised until he joined the Armed Forces in 1939. Robert proudly served his country for thirty years, mostly in the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in such places as India, Puerto Rico, Japan, Iceland and Panama before retiring at Richards-Gebaur in May of 1970. Playfully known as the Chief, Robert's hard work and dedication culminated in his being awarded Airman of the Year in 1961. After retiring from the Air Force, Robert worked as an officer at the Bank of Belton for 20 years and was an active member of the Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton, Missouri since 1979. Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Janie Canaday, Dollie Thompson and brothers, Lisbon and Lige Morris. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Thelma of 66 years; his sister, Lucy Blackman; and two children, Penny and husband Chuck Bennett of Ft. Worth, Texas and Robert, Jr. and wife Cathy of Belton, Missouri. One of Roberts greatest joys of life was his grandchildren Amy and husband Stanley Logan of Hurst, Texas; Zachary Morris and wife Kim; Kaitlin and husband Dan Brendel; and Jessie Verbanac all living in Kansas City, Missouri. Robert also had four great grandchildren Scott, Melissa, Ben, and Sarah Logan of Hurst, Texas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 15, 2013 at Lord of Love Lutheran Church with visitation 10-11 AM. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lord of Love Lutheran Church.
