RICHARD D. WILLOUGHBY

Richard D. Willoughby, age 64, passed away July 29, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Richard was born February 26, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, where he lived most of his life.

"Rick" was the first child born to Donald R. and Sharon D. Willoughby. Rick was preceded in death by his father; two sisters, Becky Allen and Julie Willoughby; an uncle, Mike Wymore, who was like a brother to him; and step-father, Charles Cossins.

He is survived by his mother, Sharon Cossins; two sisters, Kerry Cain and Brenda Fernandes (Jim); two daughters, Juanita Lukens (James) and Lisa Riggs (Pete); five grandchildren, Stephanie Payne, Dustin Riley, Jeremny, Savannah and Kylie Willoughby; one great-granddaughter, Shayanne; his special uncle, Jim Willoughby (Nancy); aunts, Patricia Miller (Ken) and Judith Ticknor (Bob); by his beloved friend Mary Bruce; nephew, Jacob Cain; nieces, Whitney Cain, Rehanne Jeffrey (Scott), Heather Tunnell (Ivan), Jacqueline Newton (Andrew), and many great nieces, nephews and cousins.

His favorites were fishing with his brother in-law, Jim, in the San Francisco Bay, designing and constructing a scaled replica model of a 3-masted ship, and crafting furniture. Rick was also a recognized master of classic car restoration.

His last days were spent in the loving care of Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri and Carondelet Manor. Memorial donations can be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145 in his behalf. There will be a private family service at a later time.
