RICHARD OWEN TIPTON

Richard Owen Tipton, age 82, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on March 6, 2018, with his family by his side, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Missouri. Graveside service with military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Belton Cemetery, Belton, Missouri.

Richard was born on June 13, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the son of Paul D. Tipton and Doris (Simons) Tipton.

During January of 1954, Richard entered into the United States Air Force and selflessly served his country.

While working as an ambulance driver, Richard met the love of his life, Zula Jane Packard, who was working as a radiologist. On February 21, 1958, Richard was united in marriage with Zula, and together they were blessed with three children: Debra, Marla, and Richard II.

For over 35 years, Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator for Union 101.

He served as Alderman in Belton, and he was also a member of the Belton Freemasons.

In his spare time, Richard enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Doris Tipton; his wife of 41 years, Zula Jane Tipton; his brother, Bob Tipton; and sister, Vicki Bradley.

Richard is survived by his children, Debra Tipton-Harris (husband, Richard), Marla Lang (husband, Gary), and Richard Tipton II; his sister, Kay Bell; three grandchildren, JD Kitchen II, Christopher Kitchen, and Hannah Tipton.
