RICHARD LEE LEMKEN
Richard "Dick" Lee Lemken, age 81 of Buckner, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. A beautiful final salute ceremony was given to Dick as he left the veterans home.
A celebration of life visitation for both Carolyn and Richard will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2024, at Cullen Funeral Home, Inc., 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083. Their inurnment will take place together at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri at a later date.
Dick was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 19, 1942, to Carl Richard Houser and Dorothy Jean Snyder. After school Dick decided to enlist in the United States Army where he served his country for three years. After his time in the service, he met the love of his life Carolyn K. Leach and together they were married on May 12, 1962. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Janice and Julie. In life, Dick enjoyed many hobbies like playing pool, golf, fishing, riding motorcycles, flying his airplane, and playing softball. He loved taking cruises, eating good food and traveling, especially the many trips to Las Vegas.
Dick was preceded in death by his birth father, Carl Richard Houser; and his adopted father and mother, James Francis and Dorothy Jean Lemken; two brothers, David Lemken and Jeffery Lemken; sister and brother in-law, Kimberly and Barrett Johnson; grandson, Jeremy Cooper; son in-law, Leslie Cooper; and two nephews, Michael Johnson and Little Jeff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Carolyn K. Lemken; two daughters, Janice Cooper and Julie Carpenter; two sisters, Beverly Rheuport and Carolyn McCormack (Jimmy); brother, James L. Lemken; mother in-law, Betty Leach; four grandchildren, Jerri Cooper, Carol Jo Johnson (Cody), Charles Carpenter III, Richard Carpenter (Heather); and 15 great grandchildren, Skyler, Joseph, Alexia, Sammie, Heaven, Makayla, Kylie, Ava, Olivia, Brendan, Kenton, Isaiah, Tory, Betty and Brayden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DAV, Disabled American Veterans.
