RICHARD LEO BARNES

Richard "Smiley" Leo Barnes, age 75, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a burial at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.

Richard was born in Harrisonville, Missouri on July 18, 1945 to Leonard Richard Barnes and Thelma (Skinner) Barnes. After high school Richard joined the work force and developed an incredible work ethic that lasted throughout his life. In life he was a man of Christian faith, incorporating his faith in all aspects of his life. Richard attended the Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Kansas City, Kansas and remained incredibly involved with the church throughout his life. He would play the piano and sing, and loved music. Richard was also a big sports fan.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Thelma Barnes.

He leaves behind his loving children, Matthew R. Brallier (Virginia), Richard Leon Barns, Cheryl Vandruff, Elizabeth Whitehead, and Anita Barnes; sister, Ruth Fortner (Dewey); six grandchildren, Matthew A. Brallier, Dustin Whitehead, Jessica Vandruff, Cassie Mossinghoff, Brandon Whitehead, and Allison Vandruff; and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 8040 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66112.
