PHYLLIS JOAN KIMMEL

Phyllis Joan Kimmel, age 90, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 14, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mound City, Missouri.

Phyllis was born on November 25, 1932 in Corning, Iowa to John Arthur Riegel and Alta Verle (Stepp) Riegel. In the winter of 1955 she was joined in marriage with her late husband, William Robert Kimmel on February 19th in Kansas City, Missouri. Phyllis earned a B.S. in Education and after graduation taught in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bill's military career had the two of them traveling all over the United States, and Phyllis really enjoyed seeing and living in new places. They finally ended up at the Richards Gebaur AFB near Belton, Missouri. After living on the base for a year while Bill finished his military career, they resided in Belton, Missouri. For the next twenty three years they worked various jobs in the Kansas City area. Phyllis' longest tenure was at the Grandview Public Library where she enjoyed thirteen years as a Library Clerk. Most of all Phyllis loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband William "Bill" Robert Kimmel; parents, John and Alta Riegel; and brother Donald A. Riegel.

She is survived by her son, John Paul Kimmel (Cindi); daughter, Helen Joan Maupin (Sam); four grandchildren, Jeffrey Kimmel (Megan), Mark Kimmel, Brent Maupin, and Nicole Fowler (Mike), and three great grandchildren, Alec, Brie, and Evelyn.
