PHYLLIS "JAN" BROWN

Phyllis "Jan" Brown, age 74, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on March 12, 2018, at Saint Luke's Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 17, at Cullen Funeral Home. Funeral service begins at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place at the Raymore Cemetery, Raymore, Missouri.

Jan was born on December 23, 1943, in Viola, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Johnnie A. Brittain and Viola L. (Denton) Brittain.

On March 29, 1990, Jan was united in marriage with John "Bernie" Brown.

For over twenty years, Jan worked as a cook at the Raymore Health Care Center.

At home, Jan loved cooking for her family and friends. Family gatherings, holidays and parties were of utmost importance to Jan as she went to great lengths to make sure that everyone was happy and had plenty to eat. As an avid vegetable gardener, Jan would incorporate her produce into her favorite dishes.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Viola Brittain; her brothers, Eddie, Boyd, and Wendell Brittain; and sister, Verna Lewellen Caruthers.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, John "Bernie" Brown;

Daughters, Tonya and fiancé, David Higginbotham, Lisa Fontaine and husband, Steven, and Darla Leiblie; Jan's sisters, Willy Mae "Aunt Bill" Honeycutt, Kitty Ella Fay Watkins (James), Lela Allene Redd Hailey (Ray), and Linda Kay Bishop (Jerry); three grandchildren, Vincent Ginestra (Vicki), Keara Wright, and Michael Ginestra (Lauren); and two great-grandchildren, Santino and Athena.
