Obituary

PHILLIP ALLEN SPARKS

Phillip Allen Sparks, 85, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 23, 2026.  Phil was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that prioritized family and thrived on hard work.

Phil Sparks was born on February 25, 1940, in Princeton, Missouri to Lester Olin Sparks and Martha Belle (Laws) Sparks.  He lived somewhat of a vagabond life as his family moved throughout the country for work.  He finally settled in Branson, Missouri as his father came to town to help with the construction of Table Rock Dam.  As a local "dam" kid, he attended Branson High School where had the pleasure of playing for legendary coach John Earl Chase and winning the 1958 State Basketball Championship.  More importantly, he met the lifelong love of his life, Beverly Watts and they married on June 6, 1959.  Through over 66 years of marriage, they worked as a loving team, supporting each other regardless of what challenges life placed before them.  He was a loving and supportive father to his daughter, Angela, and son, Mark.  He was always there to attend every event and offer his support and encouragement.  He was an openly loving husband and father, who had no difficulty expressing his affection.  He continued this interest and affection for his four grandsons that he cherished: Nathaniel Weber, Jackson Sparks, Benjamin Sparks, and Brian Sparks.

As the owner of Sparks Standard Service; to the General Manager of the Branson Dairy; to ultimately a long career of over 33 years as a high voltage lineman with KAMO Power, eventually retiring as the Superintendent of Missouri Operations, Phil was a man of purpose and relished the idea of hard work.  "Any job too dirty, difficult, or dangerous for someone else, is just fine with me" was a motto he lived throughout his life.

Phil served as an elder with the Disciples of Christ church in both Branson and El Dorado Springs.  He eventually transferred his membership to St Paul's Methodist Church in Raymore, Missouri where he most recently attended.

Phil is survived by his wife of the home, Beverly, his daughter Angela Sparks Weber (Curtis), his son Phillip Mark Sparks, his four grandsons Nathaniel James Weber, Jackson Phillip Sparks, Benjamin Allen Sparks, and Brian Mark Sparks, as well as his sisters-in-law Kay Sparks, Kathleen Firl, and Barbara Lippincott.  He is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Martha Belle, and his younger brother, Larry Sparks and sister-in-law Ruth Box.

Phil lived a life of purpose and remained a faithful son of God to the very end.  The family has requested a private service and burial in Raymore Cemetery.
