Paul V. Downey, Sr

Warrensburg, MO - Paul V. Downey, Sr., of Warrensburg, MO passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021. Paul was born in Philadelphia, PA, on January 5, 1935, the fourth of six children to the late Daniel L. Downey, Sr. and Mary Amanda Skelly Downey. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Shoup Downey of 42 years and second wife, DeAnn Warner of 3 years; his son , Paul V Downey, Jr., his brothers Thomas Downey and Daniel Downey, Jr (Mary Frances) and brother-in-law Joseph Gallo. He is survived by three other children: daughters: Therese Ragsdale (Michael) of Lee's Summit, MO, Margaret Erich (Douglas) of Lee's Summit, MO and son Peter Downey (Alison) of Overland Park, KS. Paul is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Siblings: Mary Lou Smith (Mac) of Pleasanton, CA, Joseph Edward Downey (Mercedes) of Seville, Spain and Adele Gallo of East Norwich, NY. Paul was the quintessential salesman both professionally and in his personal life. During his retirement he prided himself as 'Chef Paul' while working at the grocery store, Price Chopper. Paul was a resident of Veterans home in Warrensburg, MO. He was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lees Summit, MO where he was a frequent lector and eucharistic minister. Funeral services will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lee's Summit, 1800 SW State Route 150, Lee's Summit, MO 64082, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00am.
