PATRICIA "PAT" WARTENBEE
Patricia "Pat" Margaret Wartenbee age 85, of Grandview, Missouri passed away at her home surrounded by family on July 20, 2017. Her Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 28, 2017 at Belton Assembly of God church 613 East North Avenue Belton, Missouri 64012. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m. the service will follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the University of Kansas Cancer Center (www.kucancercenter.org).
Patricia Margaret Wartenbee was born September 14, 1931 in Grant County, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Forest and Pearl Ward. She was the oldest of 5 children. After she graduated from Marietta High School in 1949 she entered into the Bartron Hospital Nursing School in South Dakota. After earning her degree as a Registered Nurse, Patricia lovingly supported her family as an OBRN at Research Medical Center for 50 years and she also worked part-time at Menorah Medical Center for 30 years. She lived in Grandview, Missouri for 57 years. Patricia has 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Pearl Ward; son, Gordon Paul Wartenbee; daughter, Lynda Marie Langland and sister, Cleone Hackert.
She is survived by her children; Sherry Smith, Karen Helm and husband Rick, Alan Wartenbee and wife Susan, Gene Wartenbee and wife Gayle. Son-in-law, Michael Dean Langland. Siblings; Clint Ward and wife Linda, Catherine Jane Rensch and Elizabeth Betty Arteman.Grandchildren; Aimee Haley and husband David, Tara Rew, Tony Lightcap and wife Sarah, Desiree Bridges and husband Kyle, Bethany Langland, Kirsten Langland, Cameron Langland, Jordan Langland and wife Jill, Leigh Langland and husband Korey, Matthew Dukes, Katie Dukes, Ricky Helm and wife Mista, Shawn Helm and wife Jennifer, Shane Helm and wife Lynn, Stacy Wartenbee, Eric Wartenbee and wife Missy. Great Grandchildren; Connor and Nathan Haley, Mason, Bryce and Raven Rew, Kane, Cyane and Jolie Lightcap, Joel and Lauren Bridges, Brody Langland, Summit Langland, Wyatt, Maverick and Jedidiah Langland, Isabella, Zoe and Jax Brummett, Hailey, Seth, Alyssa, Caleb, Jason and Charlotte Wartenbee, Cody, Dakota and Hannah Helm, Haley, Olivia and Koley Helm, Little Shane, Kelsey, Tyler and Jacob Helm. Great-Great Grandchildren; Paisley Helm (plus one more on the way) and Kambrie Helm.
Patricia was a member of the Belton Assembly of God Church. A lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Marietta Minnesota. She was also a member of the VFW, the Lions Club, the Optimist Club and the Historical Society of Grandview. She was a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project, the City Union Mission, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Feed the Children and MANY other charities.
Her interests include; Spending time with family, volunteering in her community – she drove numerous cancer patients to their appointments throughout the years, nursing, serving in the Women's Ministry in her church, gardening, reading, crosswords, word searches, needlepoint, crocheting, she was a foodie she loved trying new things and shared these experiences with family, we'll always remember her taco parties and pumpkin pies, craft fairs, crafting and watching movies.
Patricia enjoyed traveling, and journeyed to Ireland where she met relatives and visited her ancestral family castle. While on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Jerusalem, she was baptized in the Jordan River. She regularly visited family in South Dakota, Minnesota, Texas and Arkansas. She also went to Australia, Alaska and many other unforgettable destinations.
