NORMAN W. JENNINGS
Norman W. Jennings, age 88, of Belton, Missouri, passed away March 12, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with Masonic Service prior to service time on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Belton Christian Church. Interment will take place in Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Belton Christian Church Building Fund, 409 Airway Lane, Belton, Missouri 64012.
Mr. Jennings was born August 8, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri and spent most of his life in the Kansas City area where he started his career as a frameman with Southwestern Bell. Mr. Jennings was promoted to chief switchman and continued an upward management career until retiring after 38 years of service. He was a member of Belton Christian Church in Belton, Missouri, serving as an Elder and Deacon. During his younger years he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 23 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was also a member of the Masons for 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Helen Jennings of the home; his favorite children, Dana Jennings Tucker (George) of Centennial, Colorado, Noralie Jennings-Voigt (Don) of Palmer, Alaska, Norman Jennings, Jr. (Lana) of Blue Springs, Missouri, and William "Bill" Jennings (Jean) of Arvada, Colorado. He leaves behind 8 favorite grandchildren, Bevin Peterson (Matt), Brynn Bridges (Morgan), Nessa and Alena Voigt, Lindsay Lontine (Tyler), Aubrey Tsevis (Jeff), Haley and Zach Jennings and 6 favorite great-grandchildren, Andrew and Anna Peterson, Hudson and Henry Tsevis, and Teddy and Isabelle Lontine.
As a young man, Norman had a wanderlust that led him to work in logging camps in the northwest and at movie studios in Hollywood. He and Helen traveled across America, Canada and Mexico. Norman loved the outdoors enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. He loved dogs and almost always had a "Duke" by his side. His sense of humor was second to none and he always had a joke or story to tell. When you saw the "twinkle" in his eye, you knew he was up to something. Norman was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
