In Loving Memory of Nicholas Ryan Newhouse
December 21, 1981 – May 20, 2025

Nick Newhouse, 43, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Though his time with us was shorter than we hoped, we find comfort in knowing that God has a plan, and Nick's journey was part of that purpose.

Nick was a man of generosity and kindness. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and cooking. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father—always present, always loving.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, Nick grew up playing percussion and baseball. He earned a master's degree and pursued a Ph.D. in percussion performance. He also taught music and performed with various bands and symphonies.

His career progressed naturally into leadership roles. He lifted others up and put people first, leading by example and never seeking recognition.

Nick is survived by his wife, Heather; daughter, Claire; mother, Doreen Newhouse; father, Jim Newhouse; siblings, Tim Newhouse and Jenna Weilbacher; and grandmother, Doretta Little.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Peg Newhouse; maternal grandfather, Jackie Little.

He was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta and the Knights of Columbus. His legacy is one of love, service, and generosity—a life lived for others.

A Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081, on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. Following graveside services at Raymore Cemetery, a celebration of life will be held at the Creekmoor Clubhouse, 1112 E 163rd St, Raymore, MO 64083.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Nick's daughter Claire's college education or to a cause that was meaningful to him during his cancer journey.
