Obituary

NANCY CHERRILL CLARK

Nancy Cherrill Clark, age 79, of Belton, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was a woman of faith and a follower of Jesus, and we believe that she is now at peace and in no more pain and reunited in heaven with many that she loves which gives those of us remaining much peace and joy.

Nancy was born on September 22, 1946, to Richard and Virginia Hatch. Virginia would later remarry Eugene Wayman who would go on to adopt both Nancy and her brother Gary.

Nancy Graduated Osage High School in 1964 and then attended nursing school for a stint at St Lukes school of Nursing.

Nancy married Darrell Stone on March 12, 1966. They were married for 17 years and had 3 children together; Donna Garber of Carthage, MO, Melinda Haynes (Tony) of Cypress, TX and the late Doug Stone (Jennifer) of Raymore, MO.

Once married, Nancy became an army wife and after Darrell was discharged became a traveling welders’ wife where she met many friends. She later helped Darrell manage many Pizza Hut locations. After a brief stint that took them to Rochelle, IL they came back to manage the Pizza Hut in Chillicothe, MO. After that Nancy began working at Hedrick Medical Center in 1979 as a secretary and eventually and Administrative Assistant to the Director of Nurses. She did a tremendous job as she was very detail oriented and was an avid, lifelong learner and always researching. She was enthralled by and loved to study anything medical! She became disabled and retired in 1996.

Nancy married Larry L James on August 3, 1986. She and Larry enjoyed many years together before he went to be with Jesus on August 1, 1997.

Nancy moved to Belton, MO in 1998 to be near her children who were living in the Kansas City area at the time. She enjoyed many years here before rekindling a friendship that eventually led to the marriage of her best friend she had known since childhood. Nancy married David Clark on December 24, 2010, and moved to his farm in Brookfield, MO. She was so very happy with him, and they enjoyed many wonderful adventures together until he passed in April 2012.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Virginia Wayman, her birthfather, Richard Hatch, her son, Doug Stone, her brother Gary Wayman, her husbands, Larry James and David Clark.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters and their children, Donna Garber (Kayla Garber, Dallas, TX and Nathan Garber, Joplin MO) and Melinda Haynes (Katie Haynes, Ft. Worth, TX Cameron Haynes, Cypress TX, Avery Haynes, Houston, TX, Bennett Haynes, Cypress TX, Ashton Haynes, Houston, TX). Daughter in Law, Jennifer Stone (Charlie Stone, Raymore, MO, Rosie Stone, Raymore, MO) and Cody Stone, Brookfield, MO. Nancy had one great grandbaby, James Ziggy Metallo, Ft. Worth, TX (David and Katie), who was her absolute joy and delight these last six months. Nancy is also survived by several cousins.
