Obituary

MIRIAM YOUNG

Miriam Kay Young, known to everyone as "Peach", was born January 19, 1950 to Beuford Dale "B.D." and Vera (Fordyce) Hullinger. She grew up in Manly, Iowa and moved, at age 8, to Harris, Missouri. She grew up learning to work hard on the family farm, Hullinger Acres, but saw the rewards it could bring while showing cattle as a teenager in the 4H-Club. She showed in many competitions and went on to win many awards. Her most distinguished being Reserve Champion Angus award at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago in 1965 and Supreme Grand Champion at the Arizona National Livestock Show in Phoenix in 1967. She then graduated from Newtown-Harris high school and attend college at the University of Missouri, Columbia. After one year, she moved to Kansas City Missouri, where she met Bill Young. They were  married on August 30, 1970 and spent 51 years together. Peach enjoyed taking care of her family and staying busy in the garden, canning, baking bread, or playing the mountain dulcimer. When the need arose she shared her home and took care of her mother for seven years. After her mother passed away, she worked  for 20+ years at Mid-Continent Public Library, Blue Ridge. During this time she was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, Missouri Town 1855, and her church. She enjoyed making new friends and serving her community and also including her grandchildren in her activities.
Miriam passed away January 8, 2024.
