MICHAEL G. HORNBECK

Michael G. Hornbeck, 69, of Raymore, MO passed away August 6, 2013. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Cullen Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 10 am until noon. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Wayside Waifs. Mike was born June 22, 1944 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Glen F. and Henrietta Stumpf Hornbeck. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beatrice Hornbeck and brother Glen F. Hornbeck Jr. Mike is survived by Pam, his wife of 43 years, sons Sean and Brandon Hornbeck, husband and sister-in-law Scott and Gale Clark, sister-in-law Shelly Hardy, brother-in-law and wife Jim and Lisa Hardy and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mike owned the University Barber Shop on the UMKC campus for 35 years while serving as their NCAA Rifle Coach and student mentor for over 20 years. He founded the annual UBS camping/canoe/fishing tournament on the Niagua River that celebrated its 30th year in 2013. As an avid hunter he was able to bag his largest turkey in 2013, thank you Darwin.

Mike never knew a stranger, his friends were family, and we would like to thank all of this family for supporting him and Pam in his battles and triumphs. He was never one for formality and when you join in remembering him please come casual so your memories are comfortable and bright.
