Maxine is survived by her husband Bearl of 63 years; sons, Dick and wife Linda, Bearl Jr. and wife Terry, Leo and wife Kathy, Gary and wife Brenda, Jeff and wife Debbie; daughter, Joyce Burton and husband Ha; brothers, Jim Kurzweil, Harold Kurzweil and wife Linda; sisters, Louise Belcher and husband Bob, Anna Seba and husband Fred; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Maxine is preceded in death by parents, Herman and Eleanor Kurzweil; sister, Lorene Butler. Maxine was born on her parent's family farm on the country road which now carries the family name, Kurzweil Road. She proudly represented the Raymore High School Cardinals girl's basketball team and was named to multiple all-star teams. Maxine caught the fancy of Bearl while plowing a corn field with a pair of white mules. They later married in 1947 and started their family on leased ground, which later became Richard Gebaur Air Force Base. Maxine was one of the first members of St. Sabina church where she introduced their six children to Christianity. Maxine was known for her community services in the Raymore Township. As a member of the Betterment's Association, she worked side by side with Bearl to help give Raymore its first park, Memorial Park. For many years she managed the Pepsi wagon for the Raymore Homecoming Festival. Maxine was an active member of 4-H in her youth and shared this training as a leader in adulthood. Her love for children was apparent in the endless hours she and Bearl spent decorating the Dean homestead for the holidays. Maxine found great satisfaction in the Christmas lighting and the happiness it gave others. Halloween and the pumpkin barn were one of her favorite seasonal actives. Giving hayrides to the small children and providing a haunted house experience for the young and young of heart was a joy for all. Gardening was not only a way of life on the farm, but a hobby for Maxine. Her flowerbeds were filled with native Missouri flowers that bloomed from early spring to late fall. Family was the most important thing to Maxine. She was always helping one of the children or grandchildren on many various projects that always seemed to keep her feeling complete. Maxine had a love for camping with her family. Bearl and Maxine camped all their life with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. No words can express how much Maxine was loved. She will be greatly missed by all.
