Max Raymond January passed away December 16, 2022 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family his last few days.

Max ("Bob") was born in Parsons, Kansas on September 22, 1935. He worked with his father in his father's plumbing company as a young man. Bob served in the U.S. Army and was nearly drafted twice when a Congressman interceded on the company's behalf. As the Congressman explained to the Army "Bob's" knowledge and experience working on missile silos was much more valuable to the country than serving another stent in the U.S. Army. As a result Bob went back to working on missile silos from Wichita,
Indiana to upstate New York.

He was a proud member of Plumbers Union Local 8 and he worked as a construction union plumber for many years no matter what the weather on projects such as the airport, stadiums and many hospitals around the city. He was greatly respected by all those who worked with him who sought out his advice about plumbing and about life.

Bob was one of 11 children born to James Richard January and Winona Velma (Sawtell) January. He had 44 nieces and nephews that he loved greatly. He is pre-deceased by siblings James Richard January, Jr., Velma Hartness, Carlyle January, Joyce Christensen, Marry Ellen Wright, Jenny Bolick, Donald January and Sondra Robertson.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Roberta Ballard January, his sister Linda Nunnink of Belton, Missouri, brother Frank January of Raymore, Missouri, his daughter Teresa Hensley and her husband Kenny and his son Max Raymond January, II. He is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandsons Max Raymond January, III (Sunny) who now resides in Florida and Frank Hensley and his wife Heather Hensley who reside in
California. Bob enjoyed his grandchildren Frank and Sunny as well as his great grandchildren Beric Hensley and Violet Hensley children of Frank and Heather.

Bob was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law and brother. He was at his happiest when surrounded by his wife Roberta, and his large extended family.

His guidance, love and strength will be sorely missed by his family. Cullen Funeral Home will be arranging committal services with only close family members and friends.
