MARY ALICE KASSIEN

Mary Alice Kassien, age 91, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully, December 4, 2017, at Belton Research Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30th, 2017, at the Raymore Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the "Mary Kassien Memorial Fund" c/o Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Drive, Raymore, MO 64083.

Mary was born May 2, 1926, in Sni Mills, Missouri. She was the daughter of John and Dorothy (Chatfields) Baker.

On February 10, 1951, Mary was united in marriage with Ralph Kassien. Together, Mary and Ralph were blessed with two children, Sandy and Keith.

Mary lovingly devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. During Sandy and Keith's school years, Mary was a member of the PTA, a Room Mother, and if the school doors were open, Mary was there. Every summer, Mary enjoyed babysitting her granddaughter, Jennifer, who fondly called her "Gram".

As a faithful follower of the LORD Jesus Christ, Mary was a Deaconess at the Raymore Christian Church, where she enjoyed fellowship with church family, and studying the Word of God. Mary also attended the Hickman Mills Community Christian Church, where she attended women's bible studies.

Mary and Ralph made many happy memories during vacations to Canada, Niagara Falls, walking across the Golden Gate Bridge, the Appalachian Trail, Florida, Hawaii, and to the Kassien family reunions in Wisconsin.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Johnny Baker. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 66 years, Ralph Kassien; children, Sandy Burger (Mike), and Keith Kassien (Marie); her sisters, Louise Humphreys, Ruth Barnett, Helen Guion, Eleanor Booth, Hannah Laffoon, and Nancy Carter; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Swisher (Drew), Lauren Kassien, and Christopher Kassien; great-grandson, Nathan Swisher; and many nieces and nephews.
