Obituary

Mary Kelly Hoffman (preferred name Kelly), aged 69, of Raymore, MO passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20, 2026 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kelly was born on December 7, 1956 in Kansas City, MO. She was adopted and raised by Marybelle and William Hollis in Prairie Village, KS.

Kelly graduated high school from Shawnee Mission East and went on to attend KU where she was awarded her associate’s degree. She worked as a manager in the data department at JCPenney until she left her job to raise her children, Kailey and Joseph. She later returned to work as an office manager at an allergy and rheumatology clinic where she was loved and respected by coworkers and patients alike. Kelly would go above and beyond for patients, spending hours on the phone with insurance companies helping people get the medication they needed.

Kelly enjoyed many hobbies. She has been a lover of horses and horseback riding ever since she was a child. Every weekend, you could find Kelly out at the barn with her horses, a hobby she so generously passed down to her daughter. Kelly was also an avid movie-goer. She loved watching movies of every genre, sometimes spending an entire afternoon at the theater enjoying a double feature. Kelly loved to travel and go on new adventures. She swam with sea turtles in Turks and Caicos, rode horses in Hawaii where Jurassic Park was filmed, fed giraffes at the San Diego Zoo, ate key lime pie in Key West, enjoyed the ocean breeze in Cancún, skied at multiple resorts in Colorado, stood next to the largest tree in Sequoia National Park, and admired the beauty of the Grand Canyon (just to name a few).

Out of everything in her life, Kelly was most proud of her children. She enjoyed spending time with them more than anything else in the world. As they were growing up, she never missed a game, practice, or an event. Even as adults, Kailey and Joe would join her for weekly dinners at her house. Kelly also loved spending time with her grand dogs, never missing an opportunity to pup-sit or spoil them with dog treats and French fries.

Kelly was known for her kind heart, tenacious spirit, sense of humor, and bright smile. Kelly was truly the best mother and friend. Her family is incredibly proud of her and she will be greatly missed. Kelly is survived by her two loving children, Kailey and Joseph, and her ex-husband Tom.

Kelly was preceded in death by her fiancé Greg Loteckie, her parents Marybelle and William, and many animals whom she loved throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
